Watch The Ultra-Fast Electric Volkswagen I.D. R Set Its Pikes Peak Record From Every Angle

About a month ago, Romain Dumas squeezed himself into the fully-electric Volkswagen I.D. R and laid down the fastest ever climb time up Pikes Peak: 7:57.148. Today, VW has released every video angle the company collected of the record-smashing run.

The I.D. R makes 671 horespower (500 kilowatts) and weighs less than a stack of quarters. 40-year-old French driver Dumas smoked the standing record, set in 2013 by fellow Frenchman Sébastien Loeb, by 16.730 seconds. That’s an eternity in car racing.

Being able to see the blistering intensity of this speed from inside the I.D. R’s cockpit as well as a few other perspectives makes this video really fun to watch.

12 miles, 156 curves, a lot of awesomeness. What do we think, does this make up for that whole VW defrauding the public and the EPA thing?
