During the space race, GM experimented with hydrogen fuel cell power. As part of that program, engineers assembled this modified GMC commercial van to run on fuel-cell power. It was called the Electrovan. It produced a maximum of about 214 horsepower, and could travel about 150 miles between refills of compressed liquid hydrogen. GM describes those fill ups as “somewhat hazardous.”
