Catalonia has “won the right to statehood.”Just under 90% of voters backed Catalonia’s independence from Spain, results of Sunday’s referendum showed.

The euro is sliding. The currency trades down 0.68% at 1.1734 following the results of the Catalan referendum.

Trump had an unusual plan for trade negotiations with South Korea. Trump told his top trade negotiator, Robert Lighthizer, to portray him as “crazy” in order to get more out of trade negotiations with South Korea, Axios reports.

Disney and Altice avoid an ESPN blackout. “We have reached an agreement in principle and have extended the deadline accordingly to try and finalize the terms,” the companies said in a joint statement released on Sunday.

Facebook is turning over Russia-linked ads. The social network will turn over some 3,000 ads it says were likely bought by people in Russia in the months before and after the election, Reuters says.

The attempt to take Nordstrom private is in danger of falling apart. The Nordstrom family is struggling to get financing for a deal to take the retailer private, the New York Post reports.

Apple is investigating isolated reports of the new iPhone 8 bursting open. Apple said it was “looking into” a few reports of the phone split along the side, The Independence reports.

Chinese markets are closed all week. Markets on the mainland will be shuttered all week in observance of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Stock markets around the world are higher. Japan’s Nikkei (+0.22%) paced the gains in Asia and Britain’s FTSE (+0.51%) leads in Europe. The S&P 500 is set to open higher by 0.18% near 2,523.

US economic data flows. Markit US Manufacturing PMI and ISM manufacturing will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. ET, respectively.
