Galaxy Note 6 “Lite” said to complement beastly flagship

Earlier rumors have suggested that Samsung will only release one flagship version of the Galaxy Note 6. The company is apparently still deciding between a curved or flat-screen model, but it may also have a cheaper spin-off of the Note 6 “Lite” – as some blogs are calling it – in the works.

A new leak shared on Weibo claims the Galaxy Note 6 could come in two variants with a few significant hardware differences. The premium model is still expected to pack a 5.8-inch Quad HD display, a cutting-edge Snapdragon 823 processor, 6GB of RAM and at least a 4000mAh battery. The cheaper version may share some of those specs, but it apparently offers a lower resolution 5.8-inch 1080p display instead. Other downgrades include a Snapdragon 820 chip and 4GB of RAM, which, let’s be honest, are still flagship-level specs.

The rumored Galaxy Note 6 spin-off still sounds like an extremely capable device. If Samsung can offer it at a reasonable price, it may be a hit with budget-conscious shoppers. Then again, offering multiple models could also dilute the Note brand and turn some customers off altogether.

This is still just a rumor, and we wouldn’t put too much stock in it for now. We’re still expecting at least one Galaxy Note 6 to hit the market later this year, but whether Samsung ends up launching a whole family of new devices remains to be seen.
