Alleged iPhone 7 chassis features larger camera, new antenna bands

leaked iPhone 7 chassis

Images of what is believed to be an iPhone 7 chassis have leaked out ahead of the handset’s official debut this fall, hinting a significantly larger camera sensor and redesigned antenna bands. Sources say the chassis is also thinner than that of the iPhone 6s.

It doesn’t look too dissimilar to an iPhone 6s at first glance; it maintains that flat aluminum unibody with rounded edges that we’re all familiar with now. The rear-facing iSight camera also sits in exactly the same place, but the sensor cutout appears to be much larger.

You’ll notice there are no antenna bands running through the back of this chassis like their are on Apple’s most recent devices, but if you look closely, you’ll see there are two bands more subtly integrated into the top and bottom edges of the device.

Sources for NowhereElse, which first published this photo, say that the chassis is thinner — but there are no measurements to back that up. It doesn’t look like there’s a headphone jack as many rumors have predicted, but again, it’s difficult to tell from this one image.

There’s no space for a second rear-facing camera sensor, either, but recent reports have claimed that Apple will save this for an “iPhone 7 Pro,” which is expected to be the same size as the iPhone 7 Plus, with additional features and a bigger price tag.

NowhereElse has published images (below) of what is claimed to be a dual camera sensor for iPhone, but as noted by 9to5Mac, there’s nothing to prove this is indeed an Apple component.

Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 7 lineup this fall, but we expect to see a new 4-inch “iPhone SE” — and an iPad Air 3 — at its March 21 event.
