Apple Car to launch in 2021 for $75K, claims notorious Apple analyst

Apple Car rumors have been picking up steam for a while. Now, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster is jumping into the fray with a series of predictions revealed in an interview with Apple Car Fans.

Before we run through his predictions, it’s worth noting that Munster has a pretty spotty track record when it comes to Apple. For years, he harped on the belief that Cupertino would release a television set. In 2015, he finally accepted that it wasn’t happening, but the Apple Car represents a whole new product category to lob predictions at.

That said, Munster offers some pretty reasonable analysis for the Apple Car. He suggests that Apple could reveal the new vehicle in 2019 or 2020, but probably won’t actually release it until a few years later. The analyst notes there’s “an advantage of showing it early” since the company will be able to build hype around the new product for years.

As for the price, Apple will apparently charge “about $75,000.” That’s on a par with the Tesla Model S and could easily be correct. Of course, it’s unlikely that even Apple knows how much it might charge for its first vehicle at this point.

Finally, Munster predicts that the leaks will only increase as progress on the Apple Car continues. “I think there is going to be a long steady flow of information,” he said. “Hard to keep that under wraps.”

As the Apple Car leaks continue you can expect plenty more predictions from Munster as well. We just hope this rumored vehicle actually becomes a reality, unlike that mythical TV.
