Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe unboxing: All this power for just $499

Asus is bringing a handful of new products to U.S. shores later this year, including the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. While we admit the device wasn’t originally on our radar, it’s a surprisingly well-built phone with a lot of potential. And at just $499 unlocked, it’s more affordable than a lot of competing flagships.

What stands out about the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is its all-metal unibody design, which looks as good as it feels. If you’ve ever held an HTC 10 or similar unibody phone, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a lot like that, but a little more refined. It’s thin, too, at just 7.5 mm. For a phone with a large 5.7-inch screen, it doesn’t feel unwieldy.

The rest of the specs vary depending on which version you pick up. The one you see in the video comes equipped with a 5.7-inch Full HD display, 23-megapixel camera, 6GB of RAM, 3,000mAh battery, Android Marshmallow, microSD support, and a Snapdragon 820 chip. That’s about on a par with today’s most high profile and high-end devices.

We can’t really speak to the device’s performance or battery life just yet. We will say that the skin atop Android leaves a lot to be desired, so a fresh launcher is probably the best course of action.

Check out the video above to see the ZenFone 3 Deluxe in action.
