BlackBerry opens pop-up store smack in the middle of its customer base

BlackBerry on Tuesday announced that it’s opening a pop-up store in New York City. But it’s not just opening the store anywhere, it’s opening it right in the middle of the hornets nest of its most dedicated customers: suits. The pop-up is steps across from the World Trade Center in Brookfield, a large shopping center and eatery that caters to business people working in the area. It’s right near major subways and the PATH and ferry coming in from New Jersey. If I was trying to sell BlackBerrys, this is where I’d set up shop, too.

BlackBerry will sell its smartphones to anyone, of course, it’s just that this district has some of the more finance-y, enterprise-y customers that BlackBerry holds so dear. It’ll be selling the BlackBerry Priv, BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, BlackBerry Classic and the BlackBerry Leap unlocked and with the same price tags found at the company’s online store, ShopBlackBerry. The company is tossing in a special treat for its pop-up customers, offering up a free case and sync pod.

BlackBerry’s pop-up store is located at 230 Vesey Street in Three World Financial Center. It’s open Monday – Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and even Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. It’s worth stopping by Brookfield if you’re in the area. Great lunch selection.
