Built to Spill — ‘The Plan’

Traffic sucks, so why not start your morning off with some music? You provide the toast and we’ll provide the jams.

My buddy and I saw Built to Spill at The Odeon in Cleveland some time around 2000. We were running late. We were both stressed that we might miss some of the show. We walked in and made our way to the pit in front of the stage. Moments later, the band walked out and began their set. We had timed it perfectly, it turned out. Doug Martsch did his thing, insane guitar solo after insane guitar solo. And then Jim Roth did it too. They seemed to have an unlimited reserve of musicianship from which to draw on. They blew our goddamn minds.
