We champion cars like the Austin Mini and the VW Golf and the Scion xB for packaging tons of usable space into tiny little dimensions. They’re great! But what about the opposite end of the spectrum?

This thought popped into my mind when I saw a line from reader Urambo Tambo replying to my coworker Jason Torchinsky’s almost unbelievably obsessive critique of the Tesla Model 3 not having a hatchback.

Indeed! It all feels like a wonderfully American question—what car typifies this design expression of big power, huge volume, and almost no usable space for the puny humans forced to endure being crammed into the mechanical beast they operate? What’s the most space-inefficient car ever made?

Here’s a song to listen to while pondering the thought.

Have a good weekend, y’all.
