Cool Tech under $50: Griffin BreakSafe, Tile and more

We’re always on the hunt for cool technology—stuff we might not normally cover or otherwise have the time to check out. That’s why we’re always so excited about our Cool Tech series, in which we talk about gadgets and gizmos under a certain dollar amount. This week, we have some terrific choices under $50.

Probably the coolest gadget on our list is the Griffin BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C cable, which looks like something created in a secret Apple lab. But, nope, Griffin is the mastermind behind the convenient cable, which adds Apple’s MagSafe technology to USB-C-equipped devices.

At $40, it sounds expensive, but the next time you kick your MacBook cord and it doesn’t go flying off the table, you’ll be thankful you purchased it. It’s a much better option than potentially needing to purchase an entirely new laptop.

Also on the list—and something I’ve been meaning to buy myself—is the Tile Gen 2, which is a tiny Bluetooth tracker that comes with a companion app. Attach the tile to your keys, backpack, phone, dog, anything, and you’ll be able to find it in seconds. Even if you don’t use it on a daily basis, Tile is something that can mean the difference between losing your backpack full of valuables and tracking it down in a busy place.

The final two products include the inCharge charging cable, which is small enough to fit on your keyring, and San Disk’s Ultra Fit, which somehow manages to fit obscene amounts of storage inside a device that’s no bigger than a fingernail.

All of these products would make good purchases for any gear bag. Check them out in the video above.
