Did you score tickets to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?

We’re about three weeks away from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but you can score your tickets now if you plan on seeing the movie opening night.

If you’re a diehard Star Wars fan, chances are you’ve already started prepping for the big day. If not, consider this public service announcement a reminder to get on it as soon as possible.

Like thousands (millions?) of other geeks last night, I jumped on the sale as soon as possible, getting two tickets for a Cinemark XD screening in California on Dec. 15. But it wasn’t easy and there were plenty of signs that sites such as Fandango were experiencing trouble handling the influx of traffic. I almost didn’t get the tickets I wanted.

Tickets still appear to be readily available at theaters across the U.S. but chances are showings with reserved seating will fill up quick. And if you want the best cinematic experience possible—IMAX, for example—tickets are likely long gone unless you want to sit in the very front.

If on the off chance there are tickets still available, StarWars.com has a breakdown of cool perks fans will get depending on which theater they go to. I mentioned Cinemark; the theater is offering fans an exclusive mini-poster at first showings on Cinemark XD screens.

A lot is riding on Rogue One

Rogue One is tracking to have a big opening weekend, which bodes well for the future of the franchise.

As the first major standalone film in the Star Wars universe, Disney is using Rogue One to gauge how to proceed in the future. If people dig the film, the studio will be encouraged to do more spinoffs. If not, Disney may have to rethink its strategy and steer clear of spinoff movies, and instead focus on the main Skywalker saga.

We’ll see how it all plays out on Dec. 16. That is, if you were able to buy tickets.
