Doom’s launch trailer is violent as Hell

Doom has a certain aesthetic that fans expect. Explosions, blood, metal guitar – you know the drill.

Here’s the launch trailer for the game, which is set to release next week, on Friday the 13th of May. See what they did there?

The plot looks to be a sequel of sorts rather than a reboot, with the voiceover suggesting that your character has been to Hell before. The trailer is fast, bloody, and explosive.

If Bethesda and id can deliver on the core pillars of the series, creating a fast, difficult, and precise shooter, and making sure their game is PC-friendly, we might have a genuinely good successor on our hands. We’ll know pretty soon.

Doom releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Friday, May 13.
