Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them grows to five-film franchise

On Nov. 18, 2016, J.K. Rowling’s world of magic and wizardry will return to the big screen when Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters. Turns out, the film will spark what Warner Bros. says is now the beginning of a five-film franchise. That’s right, Newt Scamander and company are about to become your new best friends.

You have to wonder, however, how the heck Warner Bros. is going to stretch the franchise across five movies. A trilogy makes sense; it’s succinct and you pretty much expect every big fantasy film to spawn sequels. But is Newt going to be looking for his lost beasts the whole time?

If so, he’s one negligent beast owner.

According to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, the first sequel to Fantastic Beasts won’t take place in New York. Presumably, all of these films will have their own arcs and storylines, but we suspect Newt will be the glue that holds the franchise together. That is, so long as Eddie Redmayne is on board.

The Harry Potter franchise has earned Warner Bros. an obscene amount of money. With five Fantastic Beasts films to come, the wizarding world is about to earn a lot more.
