Film Fondue: Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead is “most hardcore episode”

It doesn’t look like April is going to be gigantic for the box office—the biggest movie coming out is probably Disney’s The Jungle Book—but it might allow smaller projects to breakout. Hardcore Henry, the first-person action movie that looks like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, is set for release. Ratchet & Clank, meanwhile, is also set to make its debut.

Unfortunately for these films, the release of Captain America: Civil War is looming (May 6), a movie that will pit the Avengers against each other.

Suicide Squad

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Jared Leto about making Joker his own:

The work that’s been done on this character by so many people before me has been so impactful, so incredible, so much fun, so profound, so risky, that it’s a very special thing to be asked to take on that responsibility.

The Joker is one of those roles, he was written brilliantly when he was first shared with the world 75 years ago. [EW]

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

A brief video of Chris Pratt piloting the Milano was shared to the actor’s Instagram.

Speaking of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn said he isn’t sure if he’s returning for a third film.

Right now I really am just concerned with doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I’m not sure what I’m going to do after this… Marvel has talked to me about continuing on. I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do or if that’s not what I want to do. [ComingSoon]

The Walking Dead

This Sunday’s season finale has been a long time coming and according to Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, it’s the most hardcore episode in the show’s history.

I saw a little rough cut of it. And it’s the most hardcore episode we’ve ever shot. I couldn’t speak after I watched it. And, of course, I knew what was happening, and what was going to happen, and who was involved, but I got to tell you, I couldn’t speak for like an hour. And then I just was bombarded with phone calls on my drive home. But that was a rough, rough, rough cut. I will say that it might be the best episode we’ve ever shot of the show. [EW]

Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, also talked about the finale, specifically highlighting Negan.

We’ve been talking about this guy for a long time. It’s probably the most important casting since Rick, really. Everybody needs a hero, but I think they probably need a really good baddie even more. Negan’s incredibly charismatic. In this deranged society, there is a kind of logic to the way that he is running the place. He runs a tight ship, I’ll tell you that much. I’m actually very impressed. I doff my cap to this man! [EW]

Loki

The Daily Beast caught up with Tom Hiddleston and asked the actor about whether or not he’ll appear in Infinity War.

I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along. [TheDailyBeast]

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Adam Driver talked about getting ready to film the upcoming sequel, and how good the script is.

I think it’s more of a testament to Rian [Johnson] coming into something very established and making it [his own]. I can’t wait to get on set, just because he’s so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they’ve come up with is really great. [EW]

A brand new image, via Empire, has been shared of the new Ghostbusters squad. It looks like a scene from the trailer of the crew fighting ghosts during a live concert. [Empire]

Aquaman

According to director James Wan, Aquaman will have a “swashbuckling” tone:

I would love to capture the fun spirit of high-sea adventures, treasure hunts, sea monsters. That’s the spirit that I’m going for. Swashbuckling.

So, basically Pirates of the Caribbean without Jack Sparrow. [LATimes]

Meanwhile, Wan said Aquaman’s tone will be lighter than that of Batman v Superman:

I think Aquaman is a character that a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character. But at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it. [IGN]
