Galaxy Note 7 name confirmed thanks to logo leak

Several reports suggested Samsung was going to change the name of its flagship Galaxy Note smartphone this year, totally skipping the “Galaxy Note 6” moniker and moving right on to the “Galaxy Note 7” name. Now it seems that move is confirmed, thanks to a recent leak.

The ever-reliable Evan Blass from @evleaks recently tweeted the image below, which points right to the Galaxy Note 7 branding. Sure, anyone with an understanding of Photoshop could easily create something, but Blass’ track record leads us to believe this is the real deal.

Also of note (sorry for the pun): the Galaxy Note 7 name doesn’t include the “Edge” moniker, seemingly putting to rest rumors that the phone will be called the Galaxy Note 7 Edge. The device is still expected to offer dual-curved displays similar to what one finds on the Galaxy S7, however.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is expected sometime later this summer either at or before the IFA trade show in September. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, pictured below, might give us some indication to what the device looks like.
