Google giving free Chromecasts to YouTube Red subscribers

If you’re a paying YouTube Red user we have some good news. Google is apparently gifting subscribers a free Chromecast as a thank you for sticking with the service. Google is sending the offer out via email so check now to see if you missed it. The deal expires on June 19, leaving a couple of weeks for you to take advantage of the generous offer.

Droid-Life notes that the deal doesn’t seem to cover Google Play Music subscribers, even though that service also covers YouTube Red. That’s a shame, but it makes sense if Google is targeting people who signed up to pay specifically for the newer streaming option.

YouTube Red costs $10 per month and comes with a ton of perks. Ad-free video streaming may be the biggest draw, but free music streaming, exclusive content and the ability to play videos in the background or save them for offline use are all pretty awesome too.

As for Chromecast, Google’s streaming dongle has been around for a few years already and it’s pretty much universally adored. If you don’t qualify for this special offer, you can always pick one up for a cool $35.
