Google introduces PhotoScan app to digitize your old pictures

Google on Tuesday announced a new photo-scanning app called PhotoScan that lets you digitize your old photo collection with ease.

Digitizing old pictures with your smartphone has become the common method for preserving old memories, but it’s not perfect. PhotoScan makes the process easier thanks to an intuitive design and Google’s smarts. Just open up the app, follow the prompts, and you’re good to go. It’s that easy.

The quality of the image using PhotoScan won’t be as good if you used a dedicated scanner, but it is a heck of a lot better than using your stock camera app. You can either upload your scanned photos directly to Google Photos, or you can save them to your smartphone.

Digitizing your old photos has never been easier

Google is also updating Google Photos with new editing controls. You now have control with sliders for Light and Color, including Exposure, Contrast, Whites, Highlights and Shadows. The auto enhance feature is now more detailed in its enhancements, such as adjusting exposure. It also now applies filters using machine intelligence, instead of randomly selecting one.

PhotoScan is available now for both Android and iOS.
