‘He’s lying to you’: An EU Parliamentarian just trolled Nigel Farage in a big way

LONDON — Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage was just trolled in a big way by a fellow EU Parliamentarian.

The Brexiteer was addressing the elected body in Strasbourg, France on Wednesday aftternoon when Labour MEP Seb Dance was caught on camera holding a sign that read “he’s lying to you” complete with an arrow pointing in Farage’s direction.

Farage is generally an unpopular figure in the EU’s elected body, having used his seat in Parliament to criticise the 28-nation bloc and gloat when Britain voted to leave in the June referendum. Dance had clearly heard enough.

Speaking to Business Insider shortly after the incident, Dance said: “I’m amazed UKIP suddenly want to play by the rules. I took a risk — but I’m happy to accept whatever consequences the Parliament decides on.”

UKIP MEP Bill Etheridge has since launched a formal complaint to the Parliament’s President Antonio Tajani, Business Insider has learnt, due to the failure of officials to remove Dance after the incident.

In an email to Tajani, Etheridge said:

“Dear Sir,

During the debate today regarding the USA border controls, a member of the British Labour party sat behind Nigel Farage MEP during his speech with a sign making a defamatory personal remark.

The officials failed to remove him until the end of the speech and when I raised the matter it was not treated with sufficient seriousness by the acting chair.

I would like you to rule on this matter please sir

Regards

Bill Etheridge”
