HTC 10 and One M9 handsets in Europe to get Nougat within 2 weeks

HTC has confirmed that it will be rolling out its Android 7.0 Nougat updates for HTC 10 and One M9 handsets in Europe “in the next 2 weeks.” The updates landed in the U.S. last November, while 2015’s One A9 started getting its Nougat upgrade on Tuesday.

Graham Wheeler, Product and Service Director for HTC EMEA, confirmed the rollout on Twitter. As is almost always the case with Android upgrades, unlocked versions of the HTC 10 and One M9 will get Nougat first, following by those tied to carriers.

Wheeler says HTC is “working with operators to align” the rollout, but it’s not often carrier updates arrive at the same time as those directly from handset manufacturers.

As for the One A9, Wheeler says HTC is “working on this update still for Europe,” and promises the company will provide more information soon.

Nougat for the HTC 10 and One M9 will bring improved Doze for better battery life, the Vulkan API for greater gaming experiences, and the Unicode 9.0 emoji set with over 70 new characters. It should also improve performance and stability.

As with the One A9 update in the U.S., users can also expect to get Android’s latest security patch for January bundled in.
