HTC 10 camera samples: Is this really as good as the Galaxy S7?

HTC has desperately tried to make its UltraPixel technology work, beginning with the One M7, which wound up producing disappointing results. Things got better by the time the One M9 rolled around, but the company’s camera still couldn’t quite produce results on a par with Apple or Samsung. Then the HTC 10 rolled around.

In our review, we found the camera produce some excellent results, up there with the best of them. But don’t just take our work for it. We can spend all day talking photography-related terms but they don’t mean a thing if you can’t actually peep the results for yourself. So, we spent the day shooting with the HTC 10 to see what customers can expect before picking the device up.

As a refresher, the HTC 10 sports a 12-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and laser autofocus. For the purpose of these samples, we kept everything on auto and didn’t touch a thing. Just focus, snap, and repeat. I will say that the camera feels a tad slower than the one found in the Galaxy S7, which is a little worrying, but it’s not so bad that it’s a deal breaker.
