HTC 10 said to sport awesome new “Freestyle” homescreen layouts

The HTC 10‘s hardware has leaked a lot in the past few months, but what about the phone’s software? A recent set of screenshots appears to reveal some interesting new features coming with HTC’s Sense 8.0 software, including new “Freestyle” homescreen layouts.

The screenshots were posted to XDA-Developers earlier this week. They actually come from the mid-range Desire 825, which HTC unveiled earlier this year and runs the company’s new Sense 8.0 as well.

“Freestyle layouts” looks pretty awesome. Instead of sticking with the usual grid layout of apps and widgets, HTC may let you place shortcut “stickers” wherever you want. The feature appears to include several homescreen background images to choose from. From there you can map out where each app will go.

HTC is set to unveil its new phone next week during an online event on April 12. Beyond the upgraded software, the HTC 10 is also expected to offer cutting-edge specs, including a Snapdragon 820 processor, a Quad HD display, a 12-UltraPixel camera and new BoomSounds speakers.

It sounds like the HTC 10 could be a pretty amazing device. Combine all that great hardware with a slick new UI and the company may finally have the hit it’s been searching for.
