HTC Desire 820 gets Marshmallow upgrade with Sense 7

The HTC Desire 820, the world’s first Android with a 64-bit processor, is currently being updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The update not only brings Google’s latest features and improvements, but also HTC’s Sense 7.0 user interface.

The Desire 820 will celebrate its second birthday in September, and it was unclear whether it would be graced by Marshmallow at all. But the update is now rolling out, and it’s one you’ll want to install as soon as it’s available for your device.

New features include Doze, which brings better battery life; Google Now on Tap for instant access to use information, and a new app permissions system that’s easier to understand. There are also lots of improvements under the hood that boost performance and stability.

Sense 7.0 adds a variety of design tweaks, the ability to apply theme packs, and an option to customize the Desire 820’s virtual buttons.

Like all big Android updates, this one may take several days or even a couple of weeks to reach all users — so don’t be too concerned if you don’t see it today. As soon as it’s available for your handset, you’ll get an update notification.
