Huawei Honor V8 unveiled, dual rear cameras for under $400

Huawei’s offered dual rear cameras in a few high-end smartphones before, most recently on the flagship P9. Now the Chinese giant is bringing the technology to a cheaper handset with the newly announced Honor V8.

The company’s latest phone boasts a pair of 12-megapixel rear shooters, but without the Leica branding featured on the P9. It also packs an 8-megapixel camera up front, a 5.7-inch display, 4GB of RAM, Huawei’s in-house Kirin 950 processor, a fingerprint scanner and a 3500mAh battery. The Honor V8 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with the company’s EMUI 4.1 software.

The V8 actually comes in two different variants. For 2499 yuan ($384) you’ll get 32GB of expandable storage and a 1080p display. You can also beef the phone up to 64GB of space and a Quad HD resolution for 2799 yuan ($430).

The design is classic Huawei, boasting a beautiful metal frame with thin bezels and a fingerprint reader in back. It’s available in rose gold, silver, champagne gold ,and “platinum gold light” with white bezels in front. You can reserve the Honor V8 in China now through JD, a third-party retailer, with official orders opening up on May 17.
