If we’re going to be an SUV-obsessed nation, why can’t they at least be fun and interesting ones, like the first-generation Honda HR-V 3-door here? Based on the compact Honda Logo, the Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle was built from 1998 until 2006, and sold in select European and Asian markets. It was equipped with a 120-horsepower version of Honda’s D16 engine introduced in the mid-1980s. Crossovers are usually bad, but this one seems least bad, as it was offered with a 5-speed manual. The forbidden fruit tastes delicious, I hear.
