In 1991, Germany was exciting and everyone had a vision for what reunification might bring. Mercedes, for their part, thought a B-pillar-less minivan with an extra low belt-line, mobile fax machine and central driving position would suit the needs of a post-Soviet nation. They were wrong, of course. But they gave it a shot.
