King Kong is going to be gigantic in Kong: Skull Island

Now that we know King Kong is part of the same universe as Godzilla, it only makes sense for the ape to be suitably big. Well, according to Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the monster is going to get a massive size upgrade when we see him on screen next year.

“This is going to be the biggest Kong there’s ever been,” Vogt-Roberts said. “Not 10 foot or 300 foot, but a 100-foot ape.”

At that size, Kong will be more like a ten-story building than a large boulder, as he was in Peter Jackson’s King Kong (which, duh, is no longer canon). That sounds ludicrously big but should make for some delicious entertainment.

Remember, the ape is eventually going to fight against Godzilla, which was more than 300 feet tall in 2014’s Godzilla. Kong still won’t have the height to match the King of Monsters, but the gorilla will no doubt have the strength to put up a decent fight.

Kong: Skull Island is scheduled to hit theaters on May 10, 2017, while Godzilla vs. Kong set for a 2020 release.
