Mojang’s Minecraft movie now has an official release date, but it’s not for quite some time. The film is set to compete with Star Wars: Episode IX with a release on May 25, 2019.
Mojang COO Vu Bui addressed the game’s massive fanbase in on the official website.

I know you’ve been thinking just about every day, “When’s the Minecraft movie coming out?” Luckily for you, we can finally say!
The Minecraft movie will be released on May 24, 2019! The film will also be released in 3D & IMAX.
Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right?

The Minecraft film is set to be directed by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, and Warner Bros. will be producingt he film along with Roy Lee from The LEGO Movie.
