New BlackBerry confirmed for next month, here’s a teaser

TCL, which now owns the rights to build and sell smartphones under the BlackBerry name, announced during CES 2017 that it will reveal a new BlackBerry smartphone during Mobile World Congress at the end of February.

TCL said the BlackBerry will focus on security, productivity and reliability. In a short teaser video, the company confirms the device will have the beloved full QWERTY hardware keyboard and a svelte design.

“Our industry is in the midst of an evolution, where consumers are now demanding greater functionality and value from their mobile devices than ever before,” said Steve Cistulli, President and General Manager for TCL Communication (TCT), North America. ͞To meet these growing demands, both carriers and retailers need a more diverse product offering, requiring portfolio efficiencies that were previously unavailable from a single manufacturer – until now. We’re boldy evolving our business, offering end-to-end efficiencies from sales, through R&D, manufacturing and logistics. This business evolution will provide greater value to our customers in the premium post-paid and affordable no-contract tiers.”

No specs yet

TCL didn’t provide any specs for the phone, though we hope it includes some of the latest professors and display technology. You can color me interested if it will pack Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 chip.
