New iPhone 7 leaks confirm big camera upgrades

New photos of leaked iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus unibodies confirm big camera upgrades are on the way this fall. As recent reports have promised, the larger model will be the most exciting for mobile photographers.

Despite one rumor that claimed Apple has been forced to put its first dual-lens iPhone camera on hold due to “immature technology,” the leaked picture above suggests otherwise. Not only do we see a larger camera cutout, but the new camera module — which features two independent sensors — is clearly visible within it.

It’s worth remembering that this is the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, which is expected to be the only model that will get the dual-lens camera this year. That new module will almost certainly be too large to cram into a 4.7-inch iPhone anytime soon.

However, that doesn’t mean the smaller iPhone 7 won’t get any camera improvements. The second photo shows an iPhone 7 body with redesigned antenna bands and a camera cutout that’s noticeably larger than the ones we have on today’s devices.

Although this model won’t have dual sensors, then, it does look like it will at least have a larger sensor that should deliver even better photos and videos. One rumor has also suggested the smaller iPhone will finally get optical image stabilization this year, too.
