Nexus 6 finally gets Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Google’s Nexus devices used to be first in line for the latest Android updates, but that’s no longer the case if you own an older model. Fortunately for those still clinging onto a Nexus 6, Android 7.1.1 Nougat is finally available to download.

Sporting build number N6F26Q, Android 7.1.1 is a fairly significant upgrade, adding a whole bunch of new features, design changes, and improvements. This includes new and updated emoji characters, the image keyboard, rounded icons, and app shortcuts.

The Nexus 6 won’t get everything, however. Google has decided to reserve features like Night Light and the new Google Assistant to more recent devices, such as its flagship Pixel handsets. Nevertheless, Android 7.1.1 is an update you should be looking forward to.

The release, which also includes Android’s security patch for January, is available to download from Google now if you don’t mind flashing it manually — just follow the source link below. If you prefer to wait for an over-the-air update, it should be available very soon.
