Nintendo responds to allegations that they’re selling Miitomo data

When you download and use Miitomo, you’re hit with a lot of interesting questions. The application will ask about things you’ve recently done or purchased.

Kotaku took issue with the probing nature of those questions, suggesting that the answers could be sold for profit to third party companies.

Nintendo recently responded to that notion, saying unequivocally that they are not selling the responses they’re getting from these bizarre questions. Here’s what they said in a statement prepared for Kotaku.

…the answer information our consumers provide through the Miitomo app [is] only used to provide a better experience for Nintendo consumers and to support the application. Neither Nintendo nor any of its partners sells or shares that answer information for any other purposes.

The “partners” that statement refers to is specifically DeNA, the company working with Nintendo to make its mobile effort happen.

The more important question here is this: is anyone still actively using Miitomo anymore?
