Porsche has revealed a new twin-turbo V8 to squeeze into the upcoming second generation Panamera and future SUVs, but the engine is has also reportedly been designed to squeeze into just about anything requiring a V8 in the Volkswagen Group lineup.

The new 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 was revealed at 37th Vienna Motor Symposium via Automobile Magazine’s website. The engine should be good for 550 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque with active cylinder deactivation to “cut [fuel] consumption by 30 percent.”

The new V8 is expected to be in the plans for a wide spread of models accross the Volkswagen Group, from Automobile Mag:

The new Porsche-developed V-8 is rumored to be closely related to the turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 designed by Audi for longitudinal applications. As a result, both engines are compatible with both the Porsche-developed MSB architecture and the Audi-developed MLB platform. This means it will be used for upcoming models such as the next Audi A8, Bentley Continental, and possibly the Lamborghini Urus SUV.

The first MSB architecture model expected to arrive is the Panamera replacement, which we’re expecting in both sedan and wagon format, now with more twin-turbo V8. Yes, even in the U.S.!
