Russian Bus Runs a Red Light and Slams Into an Audi A8

There’s nothing more frustrating—and terrifying—than following all the rules of the road, only to get slammed by someone who has conveniently forgotten that red means ‘stop’ and green means ‘go’. An Audi driver in Kazan unfortunately got to experience this first-hand.

The dashcam video makes it pretty clear: the red public transport bus had plenty of time to slow down for that red light. It was raining, but not badly enough to impact your line of sight so much that you couldn’t see. It seems likely that this was a pretty standard case of someone just not paying attention behind the wheel.

What’s even more terrifying is realizing that the bus just dragged the Audi through a pedestrian crosswalk. If that accident had been delayed just a millisecond, things could have gotten even worse than what they were already—the video shows someone about to cross the street before some smashed bits come flying across the intersection.

According to Carscoops, it’s not clear if anyone was injured in the crash. Audis are relatively safe vehicles, so we can hope the driver escaped with nothing worse than some bumps and some rattled nerves.

And, if anything, it’s a reminder to check things out before you cross the street. Yeah, the light might be green—but that doesn’t always mean folks are going to stop.
