Samsung leak reveals two exciting new wearables

Samsung’s expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 6 and the Gear S3 later this year, but the company may also be working on a pair of surprising new wearable devices. VentureBeat reports that the South Korean giant is testing two more fitness-focused gadgets, revealing plans for a second-generation Gear Fit and a pair of completely wireless Bluetooth earbuds.

The new earbuds, apparently branded as Gear IconX, offer wireless listening and a few extra features. Samsung’s packed in fitness-tracking sensors, touch controls and 4GB of space for storing music so you can leave your phone at home. The design is also water and dust-resistant, according to VentureBeat’s source.

We know even less about the Gear Fit 2, an unexpected follow-up to the 2014 fitness tracker. It apparently features an even curvier display than the original model and a built-in GPS. The back of the device has changed as well, with the original heart rate monitor replaced by three new sensors.

There’s no word on specific specs, price or a release date. These products look pretty polished so they could be launching soon, though it’s also possible Samsung might keep them waiting in the wings while it focuses on the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 6 and a sequel to its well-received Gear S2 smartwatch.
