Shenmue III enters full-scale production, pre-orders open tomorrow on PC

Shenmue III director Yu Suzuki briefly spoke with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu on the status of his game, and he only has good news to share. Preliminary development is now over, and the game is about to move into full-scale production.

This is enough to allow the game’s pre-order to go live around the world at noon on Dec. 15.

As for the fundamental production, we’re entering the final stages of development. I believe we’ll be able to show new videos and such after New Year’s.

We’re continuing with its developments to please those who are getting into Shenmue for the first time, and more importantly for all the backers.

Starting noon on December 15, we’ll begin the highly-requested pre-orders for Shenmue III on PC.

Those of you interested, please check out Shenmue III’s official website.

Pre-order without screenshots or a trailer? Sure, I’m fine with that!

Some games simply don’t need trailers or screenshots to sell themselves to gamers. Do you really think that fans of Shenmue and Shenmue II who have been waiting over a decade and a half for a conclusion to the story are going to be swayed by anything at this point? I highly doubt it.

As I always say, some games simply exist beyond the borders of the modern day gaming setup, mostly because they stem from an earlier time. The Last Guardian is like that, and so is Shenmue III. No modern day model can fit the legend of Shenmue.
