President Donald Trump appeared to solicit suggestions for the next Federal Reserve Chair during an interview with Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Wednesday.

“Do you have a preference, out of curiosity,” Trump asked after Dobbs began speaking about the position. “Tell me who your preference is.”

Dobbs hesitated and appeared to offer his suggestion when Trump interrupted him.

“I’d love to hear it, you can even cut it out if you want,” Trump said, as he looked towards the camera. “I only want that from people I respect.”

“I personally believe that Janet Yellen might be worth keeping,” Dobbs said, referring to the Fed’s current chair.

Trump didn’t dismiss the possibility of keeping Yellen, a liberal Democrat, and recounted a meeting he had with her, three days ago.

“She was very impressive, I like her a lot,” Trump said. “It’s somebody that I am thinking about.”

Trump has reportedly been teasing picks to head the Fed in recent days. Two candidates — Jerome Powell, a former private equity magnate now on the Fed’s board; and Kevin Warsh, a former Fed governor and Morgan Stanley banker — are considered to be leading the pack.
