The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Has A Massive Hood Vent To Tempt The Breath Of God

We know that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be the most powerful ever with over 700 horsepower. We know this because Ford told us. We also know it because it has a hood vent of startling proportion, as befitting a vehicle of such performance.

Ford has deemed us worthy of seeing the GT500’s angry face and its angry face alone.

This is not enough. That does not sate our hunger to see Ford’s challenger to the Hellcat Challenger, its Challenger challenger.

We must see more of the GT500, as this Michigander Soloman Durnham spotted on the road this afternoon. The last time I was in Dearborn I saw a few of these things running around, but not with so much production-ready detail in plain view.

Look closely and you can see the Shelby cobra emblem right in the middle of the grille, as well as the fully-realized production front clip. Ford wants us to see it. Ford wants us to feel that what we are looking at is something not meant to be seen. Ford is playing with us. That’s fine. I do not know I am ready to behold the complete and terrible visage of the GT500 in full. Am I strong enough? Certainly I am strong enough to break a tree branch in half with my bare hands. Certainly I am strong enough to cry openly while standing at a cliff facing the oceans while whales breach before me, the both of us cognizant of the fleeting nature of life, that we may both be extinct before we are ready to say so to those around us.

But strong enough to see a 700+ horsepower independent-rear-axle Mustang with a factory warranty lay 11s off the showroom floor? I don’t think so.

(Hat tip to Cory!)
