Top Gear’s Chris Harris got to spend a lot of time on open roads with the new Bugatti Chiron hypercar, and yet all of that new complicated fussy stuff was no match for an experience that dates back almost 100 years.
If you were to go around bragging that you had just dropped $250,000 on a new Bugatti, people might expect something seemingly out of the future, perhaps capable of reaching the fastest speeds while drowning in leather and carbon fiber.

They’d be quite surprised when you revealed you had actually just bought a Pur Sang Bugatti Type 35, a hand built replica of the earliest days of Bugatti’s history. It’s the car to have, though, according to Top Gear’s Chris Harris, who was lucky enough to drive old and new back to back.
