  • Some of the most powerful figures in Premier League football all met in public at a New York restaurant.
  • High-profile representatives from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United dined at an Italian restaurant.
  • It is unclear what was discussed at the meeting but highly lucrative Premier League overseas TV rights could have been on the agenda.

Some of the most powerful people in Premier League football dined at an Italian restaurant in New York City last week, according to photographs published in the Daily Mail.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, Liverpool owner John W Henry, Manchester United owners Avram and Joel Glazer, and United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward were all present at the restaurant, Locanda Verde in Tribeca.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and United form a particularly powerful trio as they all feature in the top ten list of the most richest clubs in world football.

It is unclear what was discussed at the meeting.

But highly lucrative overseas Premier League TV rights could have been high on the agenda.

Six of the richest Premier League football clubs — Arsenal, Liverpool, and United, together with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea — want a redistribution of overseas TV funds.

This is because money is currently distributed equally but a recent plan suggested 35% of revenue should be divided amongst clubs based on league position.

The plan has, so far, been rejected.

Arsenal says Gazidis was in New York to meet club owner Stan Kroenke, according to the Mail. The publication then claims United said Woodward met the Glazers to discuss the NFL.
