This Ultra Chill In-Car Race Commentary Is The Most Australian Thing Ever

Screencap via YouTube

Australia feels like our ballsier brother from another mother at times, with rough-and-tumble series like the recently-un-V8’d Supercars as proof that they’re all out of crap to give. So, it just feels right for an Aussie broadcast to cut to a driver so he can nonchalantly chat with announcers while he’s racing.

This is a clip from the Toyota 86 Racing Series at Winton, and the lucky driver who got tapped for a few comments mid-turn was Australian Supercars pilot Steven Johnson.

Many drivers want their full attention on racing, so much so that some even tell whoever’s manning their radio to be quiet. Not Johnson.

Johnson handles the rubbin’-heavy racin’ and his brief chat with the commentary team like a true pro, never losing his cool even in heavy traffic.

If that’s not Aussie racing in a nutshell, I don’t know what is.
