The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is the new step in the ladder between the 717-horsepower, production Hellcat and the limited-run, 840-HP Demon that was only around for the 2018 model year. That means it comes in at a rated 797 HP and an unrated, off-the-charts level of madness.

The Hellcat Redeye starts at just under $70,000, and the one I’ve got comes in at $89,000—about $4,000 more than the Demon’s starting price. So, what do you want to know about it?

(Full disclosure: Fiat Chrysler gave me a new Hellcat Redeye for a week, and said I could take pictures of my cat in it. The car came with a full tank of gas.)

A Hellcat isn’t an elusive vehicle, so the basics don’t surprise most of us in the car community. It’s fast, it’s raw, it’s ridiculously powerful, and it’s admirable even if the Challenger’s looks haven’t changed much in general over the past decade. But if you’ve got any questions about the details, now’s your shot.

I’ve only driven the car around the neighborhood since it just came, but so far, it feels very Hellcat. It quickly and easily reminds you as the driver that it’s the one in control here, and you better get used to things. Also, the first note I wrote down about on my phone it was: “Somehow feels larger than the last Hellcat??? These things are huge.”
