Your Old Motorhome Absolutely Needs A Turbo LS Engine Swap

There is a certain level of bad idea that takes the bad to a new level. Ideas go in a linear fashion from awesome idea to good idea to regular idea to bad idea, but ideas can get so bad that they go all the way back around to awesome again. That’s exactly what this Winnebago with 600 horsepower is. It’s a bad idea that’s so bad it’s great. Cram a boosted junkyard-sourced LS under the doghouse of your Winnie and hit the road to fun.

The primary winning characteristic of this incredible travel monster is the fact that the 6-liter V8 and ebay-sourced turbo are rumbling and whistling away just over a foot from your right hand, separated by a thin sheet of janky pressboard and some malaise-era carpeting in the finest shades of brown and orange. Jump on the throttle and you’ll hear the turbo doing its work right there in your mobile living room. That’s the stuff that dreams are made of.

As Mister Regular puts it, this RV moves with the acceleration of an unladen pickup truck, which is pretty mighty. It doesn’t corner or brake particularly well, but that’s to be expected.

It’s equally hilarious that this RV not only makes about three times as much horsepower as its stock Chrysler 440 big block made, but is also better on fuel mileage. It’s the best of both worlds.
