ZTE Axon 7 teaser confirms a cool new feature

ZTE is expected to unveil its new flagship phone, potentially called the Axon 7, at an event later this month, but the company is already promoting its new device in public. Last week, ZTE’s CEO offered a glimpse of the Axon 7 online, and now it’s appearing in printed newspaper ads as well.

GizChina spotted an ad for the Axon 7 on the back page of The Wall Street Journal earlier this week. The full-page promotion shows about half of the new phone’s front panel, revealing super-thin bezels and curved edges. It also clearly shows a front-facing speaker just above the display.

Earlier certification images of the Axon 7 also revealed it could sport a pair of front-facing speakers, and this latest ad seems to confirm that feature. We’re big fans of this design, and it’s nice to see ZTE embracing the setup while other companies are moving away from it.

The Axon 7 is expected to pack a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 20-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It may also sport a fingerprint scanner in back just below the camera.

ZTE recently sent out invitations for an event on May 26 in China so we should get an official look at the Axon 7 pretty soon.
