HTC delays Marshmallow updates for One M8, One M9 on AT&T

HTC has confirmed that its Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for the One M8 and One M9 on AT&T have been delayed. The rollout is now expected to come “within the next couple of weeks.”

HTC Product Manager Mo Versi didn’t reveal why the updates were delayed in his announcement on Twitter (embedded below) — but he did promise the company was “in [the] lab” and hard at work on getting them ready for primetime.

HTC One M8 & M9 AT&T owners – there’s been a slight delay on M OS. We’re in lab but looking at approval within the next couple weeks.

The news will certainly be disappointing to One M8 and One M9 owners on AT&T — especially after the same handsets on T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon received their Marshmallow upgrades in February. It now seems the wait will be over around mid-May.

Marshmallow for the One M8 and One M9 brings a whole host of improvements and optimizations, including Doze for better battery life, an easier to understand app permissions system, and Google Now on Tap for instant access to useful information and services.

As soon as we have an update on these updates from HTC, we’ll be sure to update you.
