Acer’s aluminum Chromebook 14 offers crazy long battery life

Looking for a new Chromebook? Don’t want some cheapo plastic thing? Acer might have the answer you’re looking for. The company unveiled its latest Chromebook on Tuesday, and it sounds pretty enticing.

Someone hide my wallet.

The new Chromebook 14 offers an all-aluminum body and, depending on how much you want to pay, either a 1920 x 1080-pixel display or a lower-resolution 1366 x 768-pixel screen. Me? I’d opt for the former since it’s priced at $299.99 – still rather affordable – and packs 4GB of RAM, a 1.6GHz Celeron processor and 32GB of expandable storage.

No word yet on the pricing for the lower-res model, but if you can deal with a bit of pixelation, know that both models are safe with up to 14 hours of battery life. The Verge also detailed another model that will ship with just 2GB of RAM and only 16GB of storage, and pricing for that wasn’t announced either. Looks like there will be an aluminum Chromebook for all price ranges, though, which is pretty enticing.

Pre-orders kick off on Amazon today, and you’ll also find the Acer Chromebook 14 in Best Buy later next month.
