Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is shaping up to be an excellent side-scrolling action game, and it all starts with the heroine in the middle of it all. If Miriam doesn’t look great, the whole experience will fall apart around her, which is why director Koji Igarashi wants your opinion.
The project has posted four sets of screenshots, combining backgrounds and character models with different levels of shading to them. Here are the choices. Give them a glance, and be sure to vote. This is open to everyone, not bust backers.

Well, I’m definitely a fan of Character 3. I prefer the shadows and thick borders. They give her a lot more depth and detail than the brightly lit counterparts, and she looks like a Fire Emblem character almost. As for the backgrounds, I prefer Background 1 since they allow her to stand out more. Pencil me in for a Background 1 / Character 3, Igarashi!
Or better yet, why not include them all as an option in the final product? That way everybody is happy and nobody has to feel shorthanded if their choice didn’t get picked.
On a side note, the backgrounds have improved substantially since the last time we saw screenshots. Igarashi and his team are really cranking away to make this a very special release. Check out the Kickstarter campaign for more details.
