iOS 10 features three-pane app viewing for the iPad Pro

Apple’s iOS 10 update comes packed with a ton of exciting new features. We got a look at the highlights during yesterday’s WWDC keynote, but there’s plenty of smaller tweaks and improvements still left to discover. Now 9to5Mac has spotted one new iOS 10 feature just for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

It turns out the update makes it possible to view three panes from the same app at once in landscape mode, though this is currently limited to the official Mail and Notes apps. That’s still pretty useful, though. It makes it easy to jump between mailboxes while reading an individual email and also makes navigating between different folders in Notes a breeze.

The new feature should work automatically if you’re running the iOS 10 beta on your 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Just hold the tablet in landscape mode and you’ll be good to go.

It seems likely Apple will eventually add the same capabilities to other pre-installed apps. It might even encourage third-party developers to support the feature too, though that could be a hard sell if it’s still limited to the larger iPad Pro.
