The original series, which followed a time traveling samurai through an apocalyptic future, aired from 2001-2004, and it was canceled in its fourth season without a full conclusion. Creator Genndy Tartakovsky, also of Dexter’s Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars fame, tried for years to revive the series in a feature length film, but never found success.

Not until he went to Adult Swim did his relaunch take off, and the series entered development after just two weeks of negotiations. Since the series is now 16 years old, it’s hit a sweet nostalgia spot for many, and the timing couldn’t be better. Plenty out there can enjoy the conclusion to the show and also introduce it to their age-appropriate children.

Again, Samurai Jack returns to the air on March 11 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block.
