The 2020 Audi E-Tron GT Concept Is an Incredibly Handsome 590 HP Electric

The 2020 Audi E-Tron GT Concept electric sedan is finally completely uncovered, showing off a stunning design and boasting 590 horsepower, an electric range of 248 miles, and a recharge time to 80 percent capacity in just 20 minutes with the same 800-volt system from the upcoming Porsche Taycan.

It’s borderline frustrating that Audi is still calling this a concept, as it looks damn-near production ready, but here’s hoping they don’t manage to fuck up the real deal too bad from here, as it looks excellent.

The new look is so much better than what Audi did with the E-Tron crossover, which just looks like any other bloated, boring offering from the lineup. The E-Tron GT Concept almost outshines the current A7.

The GT Concept’s guts are a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with two motors, one to each axle, making for an all-wheel drive layout. Audi claims it can bolt from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, hit 124 mph in a little over 12 seconds, and maxes out at a responsible 149 mph top speed.

Inside, the car gets Audi’s virtual cockpit digital driver display, a touchscreen dashboard, and the interior is completely vegan, which was nice of them. Judging from the photos, the Concept GT looks pretty much production ready, which makes me wonder why we’re not just looking at the actual production car yet since this was already an older concept.

While the Concept GT’s 248-mile max range from its 90 kWh pack still isn’t anywhere near the Tesla Model S 100D and its 335-mile range, the Audi does claim to beat its 4.1 seconds to 60 mph time.

While Audi predictably wasn’t desperate to share how much of the Concept GT’s architecture is borrowed from VAG stablemate Porsche’s upcoming Taycan electric car, they both are at least getting the 800-volt architecture for super quick charging.

As good as the car looks, Audi is waiting until the 2021 model year to actually sell it.
